Couple of Projects

Here are a couple of projects that I have gotten done in the last week.

I got an e-mail from my Dad today saying that he got his Father's Day gift (wish I could say that the postal service was that late, but it was just me;) Anyway he likes it. It is a case for holding his ipod. It was fun to make so I am glad that he likes it. It also has pockets on the inside for his ear buds, but the photo was not good so you will just have to imagine them (and while you are imagining them make them look like a professional did them LOL).

And here are 2 shirts that I made for Elijah. I am happy with the Darth Vader one because I do not have much talent for making things look like something without a pattern.

That @##@#$% Vacuum

For some time now I have been HATING my vacuum. It is a dumb, good for nothing, piece of junk!!!!! (OK it is just a vacuum so it can not be dumb and it is not exactly good for nothing as it does vacuum some, but it is most certainly a piece of junk)

Here is how I think that vacuuming your floor should go:

  1. Get vacuum out.
  2. Run vacuum over all carpets/hard floors that you have/want to clean in any giving time.
  3. Put vacuum away. (there maybe some stopping in the middle for kids, phone, life)

Here is how my vacuuming experience goes:

  1. Get vacuum out (so far so good)
  2. Run vacuum over about 3 feet of carpet (OK really for about 5 Min's)
  3. Vacuum stops so it can cool down (if you are on the stairs wait with vacuum or it will fall down the stairs, if you are not on stairs sit down have a drink ( you will need it).
  4. Turn vacuum back on (you did not wait long enough go back to step 3) (this step may take a couple of tries because now you are getting REALLY mad and a little antsy)
  5. Turn vacuum back on, run vacuum for about 1 min, vacuum stops.
  6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you are really drunk and can not see the dirt on the floor. (just kidding, but really a vacuum that only works for 1-5 Min's!!!)
Today I was trying to vacuum the stairs and I had the gate across the bottom step, so that Ada Liz would not climb the stairs and the @#$@##@$ silly vacuum stopped (1/2 way up the stairs see step 3 above) so there I am on the stairs holding a vacuum that is not working watching a baby scream her head off at the bottom.... what fun this day is.

Oh and did I mention that it does not really pick up cat hair very well any more? But that is an overrated feature anyway. Who needs cat hair picked up? I only have 2 cats.

Boy do I feel better now. Ada Liz is taking a nap and I think that the cat hair is just going to stay on the steps and I am going to have a drink I mean sit down and relax.

Just Ada Liz

Lots going on sewing wise, but I can not show it yet as most of it is gifts. I will post when people get them, so for now I will just show you some cute photos of my Ada:

She is really interested in the keyboard so we took it off the stand (for fear that she would pull it over on herself) and put it on the floor. She likes to go over and push the buttons and play the keys.

I just love those little fingers.

Busy Busy Busy Update

Just a quick update before I head off to bed.
  • My MIL's bag (the one I promised her for mothers day) is almost done!!!Done now
  • Couple of cute things for Elijah (he does not know about them, I will show you after he sees them)One of these is done now
  • Quilt for Church 2 blocks done
  • 2 new bags (cut out mostly)
Not bad for 45 mins!

Busy Busy Busy

I have been busy working on lots of crafting stuff. So I have had little time to blog, but here are some photos from the weekend. I went to my friends house to help teach their daughter to sew and look what she made! She did a great job.

Here we are working the machine, she did such a good job it was hard to believe it was her first time.

Here is the cute shirt we did.

OK I had to include this. My friend is going to make a dress for her daughter and this is how she goes about it. It cracks me up, but I have to say that when I left it was well on the way to looking like a real dress. I could never do it that way, love to see the way others work.

And what blog would be complete without a cute photo of my Ada Liz. She was standing today for a couple of seconds (the longest she ever has) and she started taking a couple of steps, very wobbly steps and I think she is still far from walking, but steps! It is so fun to watch.

Oh and a quick list of what I have been working on:
  • My MIL's bag (the one I promised her for mothers day) is almost done!!!
  • Couple of cute things for Elijah (he does not know about them, I will show you after he sees them)
  • Quilt for Church
  • 2 new bags (cut out mostly)
I feel like I am missing something, but right now I can not think of what it is. Well I am off to do a little more sewing before bed.

More Great Thrift Finds

I went to a store where all the stuff that did not sell at the thrift store goes. It is 2 big rooms the first room is filled with these huge (I mean really huge) boxes filled with clothing. The other room is all the other stuff (toys, desks, chairs, scanners...). My friend Mary, Ada and I went today. Stuff is one dollar per pound. (you get a lot of clothing for a dollar) It was so much fun and I got some good finds. Here is what I got for less then 6 bucks (I also got a toy for Ada (that I left out of the photo) for Christmas... I know how could I be shopping for Christmas in July? I have never done that before, but it was such a cool thing and good deal I could not pass it up.)

Not bad yes? Yes that is a winter coat for Elijah great condition, warm, ... way to cool. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Reverisble Bird Seed Skirt GIVEAWAY!!!!

Thrift Store Finds

My good friend e-mailed me this morning to ask if I wanted to meet up at a thrift store today. I jumped at it, and had lots of fun! Here are my finds and all for less then 22$! (I think I did good)

Here is a not so secret, I LOVE books! but I do not go to the library as much as I would like to, so thrift store books ROCK. I can get lots of books and not feel the pain of new book store prices. As you can see I got some for the kids and some for me. (because we both needed more books, NOT).

Cool Robot that I could not pass up even if I did not know if it would work (it had no batteries), well it does (kinda loud, but fun).

And finally I have ALWAYS wanted a quilt rack for some of my quilts and this one was ... ready for this????..... 4$!!! Way cool. Even the guy behind the counter thought that was cheap and he works in a thrift store! Now I just need to decide if I should paint it or not.

Great Craft Night

Last night was craft night at my house and I got LOTS done, and had a great time.

I know that I already showed you the tote bag, but I finally got it all put together so that I can send it. So here is the way it looked.

I also got my Dad's Fathers day gift done (but I am not going to show you that until he gets it.) (Big thanks to my friends who held my hand with the button hole that I did for it.)

Another Great Walk

We went for another walk today and I remembered my camera. The flowers where wonderful.

This is one of the 6 turkeys we saw today.

You have to cross your feet if you are having a nice stroll;)

How Many Photo's is To Many?

If you have been reading my blog for a while you may start to think "How many photos does she take?" Well Mark did a back up the other day and he said that my photo directory has 48GB of data in it. But still I shot on.

Yesterday Ada and I went out in the back yard and had some fun.

I read (OK not much reading) my new Cooking Light and Ada played. (mostly I watched her play as she was having so much fun I could not stop laughing with her;)

She always wants to get AS close to the camera as she can (hummm sunscreen hands on your lens, well at least I have an excuse if I take blurry photos now LOL )

She just looks so old in this photo.

Today Elijah and I worked on a shirt for him. He picked out the fabric and I picked out a shirt that we had tie-dyed earlier.

Then he did not want to wear it so I bribed him with sewing the giraffe on.

Here he is putting the thread on (he also put the bobbin in)

I ran the fabric through the machine and he ran the peddle. (it was hard, thank God I have a machine that has 1/2 speed)

Finally I just love when they play together. It just makes me happy.

MORE

Photos from here.

With Elijah we could not wait to have him talk/communicate with us. So we started signing with him early on (probably to early). With Ada Liz we have been a little less diligent. She LOVES to screech to get what she wants (not fun) so today I tried the more sign with her and after a couple of tries she did it. It maybe time to brush up on our ASL.

Great Walk

Elijah, Ada Liz and I just got back from a GREAT walk. I did not take my camera so there are no photos (I am bummed that I did not even think about taking my camera!)

I do not know how it the summer could be 1/2 over already and we have not been on more walks. The weather was wonderful, 70's and breezy, and there is LOTS of construction going on (so lots for Elijah to look at). I kinda thought that the walk would go like this:

(Four minutes into the walk)
E: Can we go to the park now?
M: Elijah we just got started, we need to take a nice long walk first.
E: But I am tiered, I want to go to the park
(repeat until I get mad)

But instead we had a nice walk we got to see lots of cool flowers, grasshoppers, and a FROG (a baby frog at that, it was tiny.) I got both the grasshopper and the frog in my hands so that Ada Liz could see them, and she liked seeing them. I am going to put on my to do list more walking.

Ada Liz Photo's Elijah Story

Here are some photos from the last couple of day of Ada and a cute Elijah story mixed in.

So at church today I helped the Sunday School with a nature walk.

We saw lots of cool flowers, insects, birds and such.

Elijah walks up to a plant and say " This one is a pasta plant." ( I think he might have been in heaven)

No I say pasta does not grow on plants (to hard to explain about wheat right then). Luckily I was not the only teacher there because she pipes right up and says: "No that is a Hosta plant Elijah." I think he might have been crushed that there is no such thing as a pasta plant (if there where I am sure he would be much more into eating things that grow in the garden LOL)

Why My House is Not Clean

I wanted to make a little something for Miss Ada and instead of working on my list of things that need to get done I did this. The top photo is what the shirt looked like when I bought it.

Here it is now. I think that she will look cute in it. And it is not pink (not that I mind pink, but I get a lot of grief about all the pink Ada wears. I can not help it if she look wicked cute in pink;)

Here is a close up. (not the best job, but it was my first and I like it.)

I have to give a BIG thanks to Stephanie who showed me how to do this. She rocks!

Yesterday

Ada Liz looked so cute yesterday I had to take some photos of her.

She and I went to Weight Watchers, and then we went to the fabric store.

My friend Mary saw the bag I was making for the tote bag swap and wanted one.

So I told her that if we went to go get fabric for her I would make her one. She was excited.

The fabric above is what she picked out. I think it is going to be really cool.

I tried to talk her into this stuff, but she liked the other better and I could not let it go so.... I added 2 pieces of fabric to my collection. I am thinking little bag. Way cute, but I am also trying not not not not (I am having trouble all ready) to think to much about it as I have tons of other projects to do first.... right? ... I should do them first... right?... OK I will;)
