Bad Guy Movie

Elijah got a new "bad guy movie" over the holidays. We all sat down to watch it last night and had fun. What was the "bad guy movie" you ask???

Well it does have lots of sword fights in it;)

For those of you that have watched Dr Who you will know that when asked who he is he says "the Doctor" So when he gave this speech I had to rewind it and listen to it again. Hope you enjoy it.
Thank you again my dear sister!

Gift making update.

Well I still have a couple of things to do, but here is a list of most of the stuff that I did make for Christmas and what Santa brought for the kids:

I made this bag for my sister.  I made one for my mom also (different fabric) but I forgot to take a photo of it.... (Mom can you take a photo of it?)

I made a kids bag from these fabrics (also forgot to take photo).

These light saver shirts.

This bag for my friend Mary (she has been waiting for this for some time).

Two covers for bean bag chairs.

Two crowns.

Two puppets.  I LOVE the way these came out, very easy and cute.  I got the pattern here.

I also made some banners and gave away some tissue holders and wine bags.

And last but not least here are the shirts that Santa brought for the kids.

Gift Update

I got the last family gift done today!!! I still have a bunch of other stuff to make, but I wanted to get the stuff done for the kids before Christmas. (maybe next year I should try not to cut it so close;)

I will post photos after Christmas, until then I have a little bit of shopping left to do. Ada Liz and I are going off to Target in a bit to get that done. Elijah is having a sleep over at my friend Kari's house (she has 2 wonderful kids his age) so I am free to shop without the "what is that for" questions.

Happy Holidays!

I have been VERY busy working on all the Christmas gifts. I can not tell you about them or show them to you, but I will after Christmas. The photo above is of Elijah and I making candy's for gifts also. He is a great helper!

I will write more after Christmas, but between now and then I might be a little sparse. I am also behind in all my blog reading and commenting so please do not get offened if I am not commenting on your blog, just know that I am sewing up a storm. (With the show being on the 6th of December I have to get everything for Christmas done after that and it has ment lots of time on my machine.)

Christmas list

Elijah climbed into bed with me today. We had a wonderful time just chatting and snuggling. Boy I am going to miss it when he is not into snuggling anymore. So I said that it was time for writing to Santa and telling him what you want for Christmas. He said that he did not know if Santa had what he wanted. (wonder what he wants?) E: I want a rain coat with a dragon on it and an orange shirt with a blue butterfly (Mom have you heard that one;).

OK I know that Santa can get a orange shirt with a blue butterfly, but where in the middle of winter with Santa get a raincoat? Where does he come up with these things????? I have NEVER heard him say anything about a raincoat.

More Elijah Stories

I just had to put this photo up after 5 million cute photos of Ada Liz just to let everyone know that she does cry. Not much, but I just loved the way she was crying and I left her and ran off to get my camera. (just so you know she did not fall down I put her down and that is what made her cry, I am not that bad a mom;)

So on to the story. Boy Elijah has just been full of good blogworthy stories these days.

(out of no where)
E: What would happen if there was a fire in our house and we where not there?
Z: Well most likely one of the neighbor's would see the fire and they would call 911.
E: Oh
(we spent about 5 mins talking about other things like what does wigglepiggle mean (he always makes up words and gives them a definition that no one but him knows))
(out of nowhere again)
E: What if they do not see it?
Z: See what Elijah?
E: The fire?
Z: (Oh) Well then the house would burn down. But it would be a good thing that we are not in the house because that means that none of us would get hurt.
(WHY DID I SAY THAT, BOY I HOPE HE DOES NOT THINK ABOUT THE CATS THAT ARE ALWAYS HOME!!!!)
(Holding breath)
E: Oh, but where would we live?
Z: (breath, breath) Well we pay for insurance so the insurance company would build us a new house.
E: OH That is nice of them. Do you know what ziggle pop is?
( Thank you God for getting me out of that one.)

Snow Day

We had a bunch of snow today so we all stayed home. We made ornament cookies, regular cookies, watched a Christmas movie and so on. For afternoon snack we had the cookies that we made. I gave each kid one cookie (I had no idea if they would be any good), and then they each got one more (they were very good).

E: Can I have 3 cookies?
Z: No I think 2 cookies is enough.
E: Well then can I have one more?
Z: (does he think I can not count....?) Ahh No I think 2 cookies is enough. You know I can count right?
E: (giggle) Yes

A boy can try right?

Goggie Update

Awhile back I told you that Goggie and all the other imaginary friends in this house died. Elijah was sad about it, but every time I said something like maybe I can bring them back (they are imaginary right I must have at least that power) he would inform me that I did not have that power. Well for Thanksgiving we had friends over and the little girl, Kaitlyn, used some magic and brought them back. She was VERY pleased with herself for being so helpful and I was happy to have them back (why you ask when I spent lots of my time putting them in time outs or asking them to behave, because they are just are part of Elijah's childhood and I am not ready for him to grow up to fast). So all day on Thanksgiving we where thankful that we had them back.

Days go by and I say something about Goggie

E: Mom you know that Goggie is dead.
Z: I thought Kaitlyn used magic to help him come back?
E: No silly Kaitlyn does not have magical powers I just let her think she did to make her feel good.

So we not only do not have imaginary friends but we have little boy who know that he should make girls feel good, by telling them what they want to hear..... Boy I guess I was just dreaming when I hoped he would not grow up to fast;)

Is this Normal?

Elijah and Ada Liz are playing with playdoug and I go in to see how they are doing and Elijah shows me this:

-------------------This is the blood ------------ This is the water----------------------- This is the poison ivy

And the brown is where the cannons come out. Who knew play dough could be so .... graphic;)

Just Ada Liz

I have put up millions photo's of Ada Liz in all her cuteness, so here is a rock star photo. She put on the hat, necklace, and the sunglasses (just to be cool I think;). Just to cute not to take a photo of.

Please Help!!!

So here are some of the tissue holders that I made for the show. I am going to sell them for $4 and have been having a disagreement with my table mates. I do not think that they look as nice when they have tissues in them and do not want to go out and buy tissues for them, but they think that I should sell them with tissues in them. Do you think for $4 you would expect to have tissues in the holders? Please take a minute and vote (over in my sidebar, I have never used a poll before and not sure if it is working so if it does not please feel free to just leave comment). Thank you.

This is how I am going to display them.

Bags and Kids and Things That Fly

As I promised here is a bag I made for the show. I really was going to sell it, but I fell in love with it and so today I filled it up and am braking it in (that way I can't sell it;)

And here are a couple of photo of the kids today:

Elijah made this cool thing (it had some story about lasers, shooting bad guys and I do not know what else, but it is cute! (maybe I should not be calling something that shots bad guys cute...))

This one is cute! OK no things that fly, but it sounded like a good title.

Long Weekend

Well it does seem that I am not much of a writer on the weekends and a 4 day weekend is a big one. Sorry it has been so long. (I know that most of you are just waiting for your blog feeder to let you know when I have updated my blog;) Haahaaa!!!
Thanksgiving was a blast. We had our friends Stacey and Buran (and their wonderful, cute, lovable kids over). They come over around 11ish and stayed all day. We talked, played bridge, and did crafts! What a fun day! Here are some photos from the day:

This is a craft idea that I got here and it was lots of fun and they came out great, if you ask me.

The kids decided to have a "camp out" and here are some cute photos from that:

They had a great time and so did the grown-ups. The rest of the weekend went by way to fast, but nice. I spent the day on Saturday working on the last of the stuff for the craft show. It is on Saturday and I am ready (OK mostly sick of making stuff for it, I keep reading on other blogs about stuff people are making for Christmas presents and I want to get on with making the gifts I have planned;) I am going to try and take some photos today of all the stuff that I will be trying selling on Saturday. It has been a while since I showed you anything crafty.

Just the Doctor!

So in full acceptance of my sci-fi geekhood I have to tell you this story. My friend let Elijah watch an episode of Doctor Who.

She taught him to say " I am the Doctor of Doctor Who" so he has been walking around like this

E: Ask me who I am
Z: Who are you?
E: I am the Doctor of Doctor Who.
Z: (this is where a normal mom would just smile and say yes, but no I have to say this) Well actualy what the Doctor says is "I am the Doctor" and when asked "Doctor Who" and he says "just the Doctor"

So now my son says

E: Ask me who I am
Z: Who are you?
E: I am the Doctor
Z: Doctor who?
E: Just The Doctor

Car Ride

I am a talker. I like to talk, tell stories and hear stories (some of you that know me might say that that is an understatement;), but when I am in the car driving I like to listen to the radio, write blogs in my head, think of cool craft ideas. My son on the other hand is (deep breath) very much like me. He talks and talks and talks and talks.......(someday I am going to record it and play it for you). So today when I picked him up from school and he asked to put the headsets on (God I love those things). Well he spent the whole ride home listening to the Dixie Chicks (and singing, and making me laugh, and letting me think of this blog).

Done today list

Does it count if I make the list at the end of the day of all the things I have done and then cross them off;) One of my favorite sayings is

"To be sure of hitting the target shot first and call what ever you hit the target"

So with that in mind here is the list for the day:

  • one load of laundry folded
  • 2 loads of dishes emptied out of the dishwasher
  • dishwasher reloaded
  • one batch of cranberry sauce made and marinating in the frig
  • one batch of "Thanksgiving" cookies made (Someone and I shell not say who will not let me do anything Christmasy before Thanksgiving so that is why they are not just early Christmas cookies
  • had friends over for a play date (feed them lunch and said above cookies
  • helped Elijah make the last of the 3 wise man & baby Jesus and the manger (a wonderful woman at Church is making a quilt with all the figures that the kids made, it is SOOOOO cute. All the other kids got to work on it on Sunday, but Elijah was having a sleepover at a friends house)
  • wrote 2 blogs
So you will see that there is not sewing in that list of things. Do you think that I am procrastinating? But if I wait a bit longer I might have a clean frig and a clean oven..... Ok I will not go that far. I am off now to start thinking about sewing.... I can waste a good couple hours doing that right;)

Today

So some of you may know this about me, but I am not a big fan of the cold. My perfect day is a warm (high 80's and low 90's) with a nice gentle breeze, flowers blooming. I know that some of you would say that I should not live in the mid-west, but that is where we ended up so we have to live with it (alright I have to live with it;). So there was a bit of sadness when I looked out the window to find this:

Elijah is already dressed in the photo because he has already been out in the snow and only came back in because Mark had to go to work. I convinced him that we should have breakfast before he went back out.

E: can I go back out in the snow.
Z: Yes you can, just wait until I am out of the shower and dressed.
E: Can even Ada come out too?
Z: (That means I have to go out too.....) Yes (the things that I do not do for my kids!)
So breakfast and out we all went.

I am happy to say that we had fun, for about 10 min's (about my limit) and Ada Liz was ready to come in, (that's my girl!!!)

Fairy God Daddy

Elijah come to me today and informed me that he was my Fairy God Daddy (he was wearing wings). It made me think "why do we have Fairy God Mothers and no Daddies?" What do you think?

What are you thankful for?

At Elijah's school they always have a note on the door at pick up time to tell us that they did that day. Today when I went there was 2 lists, the first one was of what they did today and the second one was what the kids where thankful for.

I scanned down the list of transformers and what not to find out what Elijah was thankful for, this is what it said:

Elijah is thankful for Thanksgiving and his little sister.

AHHHHHH OK on closer look he was not the only one that was thankful for a sibling, but it did melt my heart. He also got a "ribbon" for giving the best hugs.

Here is a photo of ONE of the things that I am most thankful for:

Elijah not the ocean;)

Great Parents

Here is a photo of my parents that I took on the trip. It was great to spend the week with them and great to have them get to know Ada Liz.
I think that the trip stories are going to be short and take some time to get to you, I am spending a lot of time working on stuff for the craft show. I got one more bag done before breakfast ( I would not feed Elijah or myself until I had got it done... He did not complain until the last little bit and was more then willing to wait while I got it done;) and Ada Liz was still sleeping.)
So here is today's To Do list:
  • sew as many of the 4 remaining bags that I can (I got 3 done)
  • swim class
  • doctors apt. for Elijah
  • class tonight (I should do some reading before that (not even one page!))
  • couple more loads of laundry (as if!)
  • fold the one load that did not get done on Monday (nope)
Not as long a list but lots of time it in, wish me luck.... maybe these hives are from worrying about the show..... I do hope they go away soon.

Monday

We are back!!! I have a bunch of stuff to do today, so I am not going to write a big long blog, but I wanted to check in. We have been gone for a little over a week and it is good to be back. Here is one of the 270 photos that I took (I think that is good I managed to not take to many photos;)
Here is my to do list for today, lets see how much of it I get done;)
  • 5 tons of laundry (round about) the last 2 loads are in the wash right now, but all the rest are folded
  • clean house
  • unpack
  • sew 10 kids bags ( I got 4 done.... not bad)
  • maybe cut out some new tissue holders (keep dreaming)
  • rest (hahaahaa) (does 5 mins count?;)
  • take care of kids (maybe this should be at the top of the list;) (well mostly they took care of me;)
  • call doctor and find out why the hives that I have had for over a week are still here (appt on Thur.)
  • deal with photos from trip (as if)
  • write more blogs (does this count?)
  • make ribs for dinner (we where out of some of the stuff for the ribs so Mark is making dinner now:)
Well I will try and check in at the end of the day to let you know how I did.... I do not expect to do all of this stuff, but it would be nice to get some of it done.

Is this Normal?

Is it normal for a mother to feel dread every time her almost 5 year old says:

"What would happen if..."

We get a lot of what would happen if questions. Things like:

"... we filled the house with all the cheese in the world?"
"...we did not have break lights?"
"...the police pulled you over for not having break lights?"

Fill in the "what would happen with" question and know that he could ask it.

They had a field trip today at school to see the rescue helicopter. Then I got there to pick him all three of his teachers told me separately that Elijah had a great time and asked a lot of questions. One of the teachers said " you would not believe the questions that he asked... well I bet you could;)"

Now for a random photo of Ada Liz before the haircut. I will put one up soon of her new do.

Just Checking In

Just a quick note to say that I am still here and all is still well. I have been spending my time working on sewing. My friends Kari and Stephanie have joined together and are going to have a table at a show here in town. It is Dec 6th, so I have been spending a lot of my free time sewing. So if you do not see much of me in the next month that is why. (Oh and I am still reading blogs, but I might not be leaving a lot of comments... but I am still reading them:)

Last Night

I came home from class last night to find my husband trembling. I cuddled up next to him and watched as the Phillies won the world series. It was so nice to be able to be there with him for that.

How long will this last?

I have been thinking of when the kids start getting older. I have been making a little list of things that are not likely to last much longer here are two that came to me yesterday.

Being able to go bra shopping and Elijah always picking me to be on his team (this one I am really going to miss).

Is this Normal?

Does it seem normal to you that a woman would think it was a good idea to take a 4 year old bra shopping with her? Some longtime readers maybe thinking of the swimsuit incident. But I am starting at the end of the story.

Late night was open house at Elijah's school. We where all planning on going, but Mark had not slept well and Ada Liz had a hard day, so they stayed home. This meant that Elijah and I could have a "date night". We went to school and had fun. We meet one of our playgroup friends who also goes to the same school (he was there with his mom and grandparents). So we all went to dinner at the one of kids favorite restaurants. We had a nice dinner and nice company. It was fun. When Elijah and I got in the car to go home I though..... maybe it would be easier to buy bras with Elijah then it would with Ada Liz (I am not sure what my logic was... but hay). So I asked Elijah if he would mind shopping with me.

E: Of course I would mind.
Z: You would mind OK then we will not do it. (I did let him choose so I can live with his answer)
E: No Of course I would mind.
Z: Do you want to do it?
E: YES!
Z: OH you wanted to say of course I don't mind:)

So in we go. I found the nicest lady and she did the measurement to tell me that the bra I was wearing (from before I lost all this weight) was 1 number size to big and 2 cup sizes to big!! Cool!!! and she helped me pick out a bunch of bras. Elijah was a little antsy, but was OK when he learned that the 3 plane mirror could be folded in on itself and he could stand inside it (making millions of Elijah's.... way cool).

By some grace of God he managed to enjoy the whole time and I got 3 new bras!! I am soooo happy. OK so maybe this is not really a is this normal blog, but it was the best I had this week:)

Just Ada Liz

Who Knew?

Elijah and Ada Liz in the car yesterday:

AL: (fuss fuss fuss) (I think she is trying to get something)
E: I can't help you Ada I am not your servant..... well sometimes I am.

Is this Normal?

I have seen lots of cool weekly blog entries from my blog-friends like Thankful Thursday over at Clothesline Chronicles, Ruby Tuesday over at Built to Last, .. I am so sure that there are others out there. I was thinking that my life is more on the lines of "Is This Normal?" HAAHAA So you may be seeing more of these entry's.

So on to the story. Elijah has been a little obsessed with death lately. I am not sure what has taking this on, but it does scare me a little (although I am also sure that it MUST be normal.... RIGHT?) Lately his imaginary friend Goggie has died (this was sadder for me then for him I think). Goggies mother is pregnant with another baby that she is very happy about. We still have other imaginary friends, but Goggie has been with us the longest.

A couple of weeks ago he was playing with his cosy coupe and this is what he wanted to play with it:

He stayed like this for some time. I have been extra diligent about seat belts these days!

Story of the Day

So this may not be the most exciting news you have read today, but yesterday I got to use my new CROCK POT!!!!! I love it. I lost my old one to a target end:

  • Did you know that you could not put the liner on the stove top to thicken up your "no fail beef stroganoff"?
  • Did you also know that if you where going to do put it on the stove top that you should not do it while people where sitting down to dinner?
  • Did you also know that if you have company over you should not have them sit down to dinner saying "it will just be another minute" while you are putting said liner on the stove top?
  • Did you also know that if you put said liner on the stove top that it will make a BIG mess on the stove top? (while you have company at the table ready to eat)
  • Lastly did you know that in 20 minutes you can have something else for the company to have and that your dad can clean up the mess?

But I digress, that happened 6 months ago and I have been crock potless since then, but this weekend I went out and got one and last night we had beef stew and it was GREAT! So here is a photo of my new pride and joy:

Pretty yes?

Apron Swap

Here is what I got in from the Apron Swap that I was in. I have to say that it was like my birthday! It was so much fun opening the package and seeing all the wonderful stuff that Val included in my box. To see more photos go check out her blog here.

It looked so nice that I did not want to open it, but that did not last long;)

Look at all the good stuff in the box and there is a wonderful book that you can not see.

Me moments after opening the apron. She did such a nice job with it!!! I love it!!!

Here is a better photo of it. Do you see those little pink balls at the bottom? Ada Liz LOVES these. She is so gentle with them, but when I am cooking she likes to come up and play with them.

And Val included little bags for the kids as well. SO SWEET!! Thank you Val!!!
Now I have to get on getting my box ready. I did make the apron now I just have to figure what else I am going to put in the box and get it out to my partner;)
