First days of summer.

So far our summer break has been going well.  I wanted to make this summer a little more structured then last year.  Not in a at this min we need to do this, but more everyday we need to get some stuff done for the house, practice instruments, do some school work and do something fun.  Last year we spent tons of time in the yard and that was great, but I felt like I just kinda let the kids run free and spent to much time reading blogs, FB, ... So this summer I wanted to do more outings.  It seems to be working so far, but today is only the second day of summer break ( if you do not count the weekends;).

The kids each made a list of stuff they wanted to do this summer and one of the things on Ada's list was learn how to sew ( how could I say no to that?). So today she laid out some fabric that she wanted to make into pillows and we made them.  She then went around to the neighbors and gave them away.  So cute.

They both wanted to go to the zoo so that was also on the list for today.

I think they liked it;)

And we got a membership to the pool this year and already I love it, we went for the first time yesterday and they loved it ( and I got to sew flowers for my quilt so I loved it;)

Right now they are on a bike ride with their Dad.  Ahhhhh summer.  I hope the rest of the summer goes as well as the first 2 days.

7 out of 7

Today was my last day in the art room. It has been a wonderful year, but I am glad it is done;).

I am super happy with all the quilts, and 5 of them are already hanging at the school. The last 2 this one included will be hanging in the newly designed library, so we could not hang these yet. But they will hanging at the 5th grade graduation.

Well it is 8 pm and I need to head to bed ( only 2 more days of school to go.....can not wait for summer break. )

Have a nice night.

6 out of 7

Here is the 6th quilt that I am making with the school. This one is made by the 4/5th graders.  All these quilts will hang in the school next year.  This one and its partner will be hanging in the new library so next year we will have a new library and new art!:).

I think the binding makes it look even better.

First of the 4th and 5th graders quilts

This is one of two quilts made by the 4/5 classes. The theme is Jazz. Can you see all the jazzyness in this one?  It has not been bound yet, but I am going to cut that purple in the bottom of the photo for the binding.

Sorry the photo is a little fuzzy.  Have a jazzy day;)

Still a kid, thank God!

My dear sweet boy is growing up so fast.  Here he is coming back from his French Horn Band (made up of 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12th graders and one 3rd grader;) and we have to walk over this bridge.  The bridge goes over the very busy road.

He thinks it is the greatest fun to "jump" on the cars as they go under the bridge:) In the photo above he is getting ready to jump.

Here he is landing (no photo of him in the air, sorry).  The best part is all the college kids going by smiling at him.  Oh how I hope that you will always find fun in your life. For more on how to stay happy see this it is soo with it.

Two new skirts

I have lost some weight and did not want to go buy a new skirt for a wedding that I am going to so I made a couple (so I would have options;).  My Super good friend Kari showed me how and lent me her pattern for this quick EASY skirt.  I love the way they come out.  The top one is going to be for the wedding and the other for summer days (THAT ARE COMING!!!!!)

The last quilt

This is a little bit (my fav little bit*) of the new quilt that I am working on with my kids school.  This quilt is a river on the bottom and and a grassland on the top (with a oak tree in the middle).  All the K and 1grade kids got to make a fish they also are making frogs, flowers, otters, ..... tons of other things as well.  I will show you more of the quilt sometime, but right now you just get to see the best fishy on the quilt ;)

*this may or may not be Ada's fish and that may or may not be why I love it so much;)

True Love

OK this one is a couple of weeks old, but it still melts my heart.  This was on the way home from urgent care for the cut to his eyebrow (they glued it, much to his relief ).  As he was hugging her he said " Ada makes me feel better" <sigh> I love these two.
