Steaming Mad!

Here is a story from last week that I had to put to ink cyber space.

We where running late.

Trying to run out the door, pick up little girl (what is that I smell?), run up stairs change diaper, run down stairs, yell ask Elijah to put shoes on, run out to start car

As I am going out I hear Elijah say to Ada Liz "shhhh wait for Mommy to go"
Z: (He is SOOOO not going to have his shoes on when I get back!)

So I run back inside (still feeling the presser of the day weighing down on me and it is not even 8:30!) I see the shoes still sitting in the same spot! Now I am steaming mad, fire coming out of my head mad. I walk around the corner my hole body tense with anger and I see........

Both kids sitting on the floor and Elijah is putting Ada's shoes on.
E: I am helping put her with her shoes! (very proud)

***Insert melted heart here****

I stopped took a deep breath and hugged both my kids. We took our time getting out to the car, had a fun ride in and where still on time.....

And just because I think everyone needs one look of a jelly girl here is a photo:

E: I think I know a little bit about what you should do when someone is sick.

Z: Oh what is that?

E: (looking at me knowingly ) Not take photos of them.

This was right after seeing this .... Man I am going to have to start hiding my blogs from him;)

Oh the joys of the car wash.

E: Ada do you want to go to the tree party?
A: Yes
E: Well you can't because you were not invited. (in a not so nice way)
Z: Elijah that is not nice!
E: But I am just telling her what the invitation says.

Mind you the invitation is only in his head.

That is all I have for now.... I just put both kids in their rooms crying (and one kicking and hitting) so I am going to go read a magazine.... oh the joy of kids.

Break From Trip Photos

So we have been having a great time. Most of the trouble that I was having with Elijah before the trip is gone (thank goodness). He is back to being his sweet self. He and Ada have been playing SUPER well together and it is fun to watch. Many days he says "I want to have some play time with Ada." (and she LOVES playing with him, even if it means that she might be bouncing off the walls:)

Ada has been growing so fast it is hard to keep up with her. She talks up a storm! Yesterday when asked her mommy was she took a hold of me and "Ada's Mommy!" When my friend asked her if I was also Elijah's mommy she said "NO!" I asked where Elijah's mommy was and she said " She went bye bye" (she's a trouble maker in the making:)

We are also in the process of getting rid of her NUK's. So far so good, but it has only been a little over a day. She was waking up in the middle of the night when they fell out and screaming at the top of her little lungs. We where getting really sick of that, so one night I just stopped going in. When she asks about them we just say NUK went bye bye (I hope this has nothing to do with Elijah's mommy going bye bye).

These photos are a couple of weeks old, but they where so fun I wanted to put them up.

You are no Troy Peterson young man.

In the car on Sunday (on the way to our friends house to watch the SuperBowl)

Elijah: Mommy I just saw a bird.

Me: Was it big or small?

E: It was smallish big.

M: What color was it?

E: I do not know.

M: (OK even Troy Peterson could not have made a positive ID on that bird! Time to change the subject.) Did you have fun in Sunday School today?

E: Yes we learned about muster seeds.

M: ( Mark and I sometimes play the " what do you think he learned about today game after Sunday School. It is often a challenge to find the bible story in the stuff that sticks out in Elijah's mind.) So what did you learn about muster seeds?

E: A muster seed is like heaven!

M: How so?

E: (thinking) I do not know she did not tell us.

M: (I am sure that was not the case.... but now is not the time to argue now is the time to learn more) Do you like your teachers?

E: I love all of them!

(He has 2 teachers, but one of them is in the choir so when she is teaching there is always a different person person that is with them until she is done singing.)

M: Who was there with you today?

E: Well I do not know her name, but she has one son.

M: (this does not tell help me much) OK does she have any daughters?

E: No just one son.... you know who I mean!

M: Not really. Does she have dark hair?

E: Her hair comes down like this. (This is like an egg being broken over your head, not much help)

M: Is it dark hair or blond?

E: I think it is blond, well kinda..... I am not sure, maybe it was dark.

No help there. I guess I will have to give up my dream of having a famous birder in the family:)

Yesterday

Yesterday my friend Stephanie and her kids came over to play (that is 4 kids all together). I was ready for the tree to come down and get the Christmas stuff put away. I had it mostly done when Stephanie got here. She was inspired to help me re-arrange the down stairs (GOD BLESS HER!). We move everything in the living room and toy room. It looks so GREAT now!

Once we got the TV out of this stand I was ready to put this on the curb.... I am a little tired of it, but Elijah piped up "we could do puppet shows in it" Man he is a smart 5 year old. I will be making some curtains for it soon.

At the end of the day all I wanted to do was sit down on the sofa, cuddle up with Mark and watch Dr Who (thank you again Alyssa for Netflix). So at 6:30 when we sat down to a wonderful dinner of calzones Mark says " you are going to have to eat fast so that you can make it to class" Bummer class I forgot about class (I could be sick..... no I love the class and want to go... sorta... mostly). So I chowed down on my food and left the house about 10 min's later.
I made it to class on time and had a good class. When I went to get in my car after class it was .... gone. I was fairly sure that it must of been towed and not stolen so my Pastor drove me around the neighborhood to look for it... no luck. So he drove me home (what a nice man). I called and found out where it was and we (all of us) went to pick it up today. On the way out of the house Mark asked me about why the tree was still on the front porch. I told him that we could not get the stand off of it so we did not put it on the street. The jokingly said "well today will be the day they pick up the trees" and yes he was right. So we still have a tree and all the others in the neighborhood are gone...
OK on to one good story and then I will let you get back to your life's.
Ada Liz and I where in the car today after going grocery shopping.

AL: Ada Bad Guy
Z: No Ada not bad guy
AL: Ada Bad Guy
Z: No Ada good guy
AL: NO NO NO NO Ada Bad Guy.
Z: OK Ada bad guy (heehee)

Oh the joys of having a 5 year old big brother;)

Christmas list

Elijah climbed into bed with me today. We had a wonderful time just chatting and snuggling. Boy I am going to miss it when he is not into snuggling anymore. So I said that it was time for writing to Santa and telling him what you want for Christmas. He said that he did not know if Santa had what he wanted. (wonder what he wants?) E: I want a rain coat with a dragon on it and an orange shirt with a blue butterfly (Mom have you heard that one;).

OK I know that Santa can get a orange shirt with a blue butterfly, but where in the middle of winter with Santa get a raincoat? Where does he come up with these things????? I have NEVER heard him say anything about a raincoat.

More Elijah Stories

I just had to put this photo up after 5 million cute photos of Ada Liz just to let everyone know that she does cry. Not much, but I just loved the way she was crying and I left her and ran off to get my camera. (just so you know she did not fall down I put her down and that is what made her cry, I am not that bad a mom;)

So on to the story. Boy Elijah has just been full of good blogworthy stories these days.

(out of no where)
E: What would happen if there was a fire in our house and we where not there?
Z: Well most likely one of the neighbor's would see the fire and they would call 911.
E: Oh
(we spent about 5 mins talking about other things like what does wigglepiggle mean (he always makes up words and gives them a definition that no one but him knows))
(out of nowhere again)
E: What if they do not see it?
Z: See what Elijah?
E: The fire?
Z: (Oh) Well then the house would burn down. But it would be a good thing that we are not in the house because that means that none of us would get hurt.
(WHY DID I SAY THAT, BOY I HOPE HE DOES NOT THINK ABOUT THE CATS THAT ARE ALWAYS HOME!!!!)
(Holding breath)
E: Oh, but where would we live?
Z: (breath, breath) Well we pay for insurance so the insurance company would build us a new house.
E: OH That is nice of them. Do you know what ziggle pop is?
( Thank you God for getting me out of that one.)

Snow Day

We had a bunch of snow today so we all stayed home. We made ornament cookies, regular cookies, watched a Christmas movie and so on. For afternoon snack we had the cookies that we made. I gave each kid one cookie (I had no idea if they would be any good), and then they each got one more (they were very good).

E: Can I have 3 cookies?
Z: No I think 2 cookies is enough.
E: Well then can I have one more?
Z: (does he think I can not count....?) Ahh No I think 2 cookies is enough. You know I can count right?
E: (giggle) Yes

A boy can try right?

Goggie Update

Awhile back I told you that Goggie and all the other imaginary friends in this house died. Elijah was sad about it, but every time I said something like maybe I can bring them back (they are imaginary right I must have at least that power) he would inform me that I did not have that power. Well for Thanksgiving we had friends over and the little girl, Kaitlyn, used some magic and brought them back. She was VERY pleased with herself for being so helpful and I was happy to have them back (why you ask when I spent lots of my time putting them in time outs or asking them to behave, because they are just are part of Elijah's childhood and I am not ready for him to grow up to fast). So all day on Thanksgiving we where thankful that we had them back.

Days go by and I say something about Goggie

E: Mom you know that Goggie is dead.
Z: I thought Kaitlyn used magic to help him come back?
E: No silly Kaitlyn does not have magical powers I just let her think she did to make her feel good.

So we not only do not have imaginary friends but we have little boy who know that he should make girls feel good, by telling them what they want to hear..... Boy I guess I was just dreaming when I hoped he would not grow up to fast;)

Just the Doctor!

So in full acceptance of my sci-fi geekhood I have to tell you this story. My friend let Elijah watch an episode of Doctor Who.

She taught him to say " I am the Doctor of Doctor Who" so he has been walking around like this

E: Ask me who I am
Z: Who are you?
E: I am the Doctor of Doctor Who.
Z: (this is where a normal mom would just smile and say yes, but no I have to say this) Well actualy what the Doctor says is "I am the Doctor" and when asked "Doctor Who" and he says "just the Doctor"

So now my son says

E: Ask me who I am
Z: Who are you?
E: I am the Doctor
Z: Doctor who?
E: Just The Doctor

Car Ride

I am a talker. I like to talk, tell stories and hear stories (some of you that know me might say that that is an understatement;), but when I am in the car driving I like to listen to the radio, write blogs in my head, think of cool craft ideas. My son on the other hand is (deep breath) very much like me. He talks and talks and talks and talks.......(someday I am going to record it and play it for you). So today when I picked him up from school and he asked to put the headsets on (God I love those things). Well he spent the whole ride home listening to the Dixie Chicks (and singing, and making me laugh, and letting me think of this blog).

Today

So some of you may know this about me, but I am not a big fan of the cold. My perfect day is a warm (high 80's and low 90's) with a nice gentle breeze, flowers blooming. I know that some of you would say that I should not live in the mid-west, but that is where we ended up so we have to live with it (alright I have to live with it;). So there was a bit of sadness when I looked out the window to find this:

Elijah is already dressed in the photo because he has already been out in the snow and only came back in because Mark had to go to work. I convinced him that we should have breakfast before he went back out.

E: can I go back out in the snow.
Z: Yes you can, just wait until I am out of the shower and dressed.
E: Can even Ada come out too?
Z: (That means I have to go out too.....) Yes (the things that I do not do for my kids!)
So breakfast and out we all went.

I am happy to say that we had fun, for about 10 min's (about my limit) and Ada Liz was ready to come in, (that's my girl!!!)

Fairy God Daddy

Elijah come to me today and informed me that he was my Fairy God Daddy (he was wearing wings). It made me think "why do we have Fairy God Mothers and no Daddies?" What do you think?

What are you thankful for?

At Elijah's school they always have a note on the door at pick up time to tell us that they did that day. Today when I went there was 2 lists, the first one was of what they did today and the second one was what the kids where thankful for.

I scanned down the list of transformers and what not to find out what Elijah was thankful for, this is what it said:

Elijah is thankful for Thanksgiving and his little sister.

AHHHHHH OK on closer look he was not the only one that was thankful for a sibling, but it did melt my heart. He also got a "ribbon" for giving the best hugs.

Here is a photo of ONE of the things that I am most thankful for:

Elijah not the ocean;)

Is this Normal?

Does it seem normal to you that a woman would think it was a good idea to take a 4 year old bra shopping with her? Some longtime readers maybe thinking of the swimsuit incident. But I am starting at the end of the story.

Late night was open house at Elijah's school. We where all planning on going, but Mark had not slept well and Ada Liz had a hard day, so they stayed home. This meant that Elijah and I could have a "date night". We went to school and had fun. We meet one of our playgroup friends who also goes to the same school (he was there with his mom and grandparents). So we all went to dinner at the one of kids favorite restaurants. We had a nice dinner and nice company. It was fun. When Elijah and I got in the car to go home I though..... maybe it would be easier to buy bras with Elijah then it would with Ada Liz (I am not sure what my logic was... but hay). So I asked Elijah if he would mind shopping with me.

E: Of course I would mind.
Z: You would mind OK then we will not do it. (I did let him choose so I can live with his answer)
E: No Of course I would mind.
Z: Do you want to do it?
E: YES!
Z: OH you wanted to say of course I don't mind:)

So in we go. I found the nicest lady and she did the measurement to tell me that the bra I was wearing (from before I lost all this weight) was 1 number size to big and 2 cup sizes to big!! Cool!!! and she helped me pick out a bunch of bras. Elijah was a little antsy, but was OK when he learned that the 3 plane mirror could be folded in on itself and he could stand inside it (making millions of Elijah's.... way cool).

By some grace of God he managed to enjoy the whole time and I got 3 new bras!! I am soooo happy. OK so maybe this is not really a is this normal blog, but it was the best I had this week:)

Who Knew?

Elijah and Ada Liz in the car yesterday:

AL: (fuss fuss fuss) (I think she is trying to get something)
E: I can't help you Ada I am not your servant..... well sometimes I am.

Is this Normal?

I have seen lots of cool weekly blog entries from my blog-friends like Thankful Thursday over at Clothesline Chronicles, Ruby Tuesday over at Built to Last, .. I am so sure that there are others out there. I was thinking that my life is more on the lines of "Is This Normal?" HAAHAA So you may be seeing more of these entry's.

So on to the story. Elijah has been a little obsessed with death lately. I am not sure what has taking this on, but it does scare me a little (although I am also sure that it MUST be normal.... RIGHT?) Lately his imaginary friend Goggie has died (this was sadder for me then for him I think). Goggies mother is pregnant with another baby that she is very happy about. We still have other imaginary friends, but Goggie has been with us the longest.

A couple of weeks ago he was playing with his cosy coupe and this is what he wanted to play with it:

He stayed like this for some time. I have been extra diligent about seat belts these days!

Story of the Day

So this may not be the most exciting news you have read today, but yesterday I got to use my new CROCK POT!!!!! I love it. I lost my old one to a target end:

  • Did you know that you could not put the liner on the stove top to thicken up your "no fail beef stroganoff"?
  • Did you also know that if you where going to do put it on the stove top that you should not do it while people where sitting down to dinner?
  • Did you also know that if you have company over you should not have them sit down to dinner saying "it will just be another minute" while you are putting said liner on the stove top?
  • Did you also know that if you put said liner on the stove top that it will make a BIG mess on the stove top? (while you have company at the table ready to eat)
  • Lastly did you know that in 20 minutes you can have something else for the company to have and that your dad can clean up the mess?

But I digress, that happened 6 months ago and I have been crock potless since then, but this weekend I went out and got one and last night we had beef stew and it was GREAT! So here is a photo of my new pride and joy:

Pretty yes?

You shall not pass!

This is what my son said to me as I was coming down the stairs yesterday and this is what he looked like:

For some time now some of my friends (and you know who you are) have been giving me a hard time saying that I am a scifi geek. I have been fighting it, but now I think I will have to own up to it. For those of you that are not scifi geeks or do not know where "You shall not pass" comes from when I googled it all the listings where for Lord of the Rings. ( I am still not sure that I qualify as a geek I only watch Dr Who, Tourchwood, Sara Connor, StarGate... maybe I should stop now;)

I have lots of other things to blog about. In the last couple of days I have been tagged by 3 friends ( I will get to it soon, I promise.) And I got a WONDERFUL package from Val over at Yarni Gras. I have to get some photos of the wonderful apron she made for me and the fun package that come with it. I will do both of these things soon, but right now I am going to work on the house and rest a little so that I have lots of energy for crafting tonight;)
